Good news for those who took the Handmade Pledge
By Christa TerryEtsy is one of my go-to destinations when I’m looking for cool stuff to feature on Manolo for the Brides, but it never would have struck me to look there for furniture. After all, shipping charges must be outrageous, right? And who wants to buy furniture you can’t inspect first? I’m not so sure anymore — a short search for furniture netted me all sorts of chill chairs I’d be more than pleased to install in my own home.
Here’s a sampling:

This “Swanky Louis XVI chair” is brought to you by Dinwiddies, maker of funky purses, pillows, skirts, and more. I’m personally in love with the giant stuffed olive.

Sprucehome brings you two antique farm chairs painted a pretty tangerine topped with two pillows covered in a vintage batik fabric. The best part is that shipping is free if you live near a Greyhound bus stop!

Want to play chess with your butt? Seller KuroCreations — maker of everything from jewelry to journals to painted wineglasses — has got you covered.

This indoor/outdoor chair is built to your specs by Seattle craftsmen (presumably craftswomen are also involved) and sold by InGrainFurniture.
Now that I think about it, I can’t recall ever buying anything from an Etsy seller. I’ve lost many an hour of my life clicking through the site, however.

I don’t think I could buy furniture without having a chance to see it in person first. If I buy a chair, I want to sit in it, movie it around, and see how it feels in a space. While it’s fun to browse online, I need the tactile experience when buying furniture!
