The walls have eyes

By Christa Terry

Today’s bit of bizarre comes from Bridey, who sent me a link to a blog post describing Bocci 22 outlets.

IT’S STARING AT MEEEEEE!

Now is it just me, or do these outlets look…well…vaguely confused in a classic Nintendo-esque sort of way? Whatever stymied these poor givers of electricity did not make them happy. I mean, they’re frowning!

Frowning, tedious to install, and giving me a case of the screaming heebies. I’ll just stick to plain old ugly outlet covers for now until someone comes up with a sleeker option that has a bit less personality.

  1. Twistie Says:

Confused? I think they look downright distressed. I’d be spending all my time trying to cheer up my sockets. Somehow I don’t think that would be the most effective use of my time.

  2. La Petite Acadienne Says:

I’m confused (but not in a Nintendo-esque kind of way). Don’t all wall outlets have the same shape of openings? Yeah, these guys are flush against the wall, and the outlet itself is round, but as far as I’m aware, all three-prong outlets have the two vertical lines and then the semi-circle below it (i.e. the same “face”).

  3. Jennie Says:

I think the drywall mud would crack constantly if you pull plugs in and out, especially those really stiff ones.

  4. Never teh Bride Says:

I thought about that, La Petite Acadienne, so I decided to spend a little quality time with my own outlets. Maybe it’s just that they’re not circular like these, so it’s easier to ignore the face-ishness?

  5. Toby Wollin Says:

I’m actually waiting for the resurrection of Reddy Kilowatt.

  6. Never teh Bride Says:

Don’t let Reddy Kilowatt touch you…and don’t sniff Reddy Flame, his brother!
