If you’re going to go…go all the way
By Never teh BridePictures like this really don’t need much commentary.

Someone either loves the U.S.A. very much or they just plain like red, white, and blue. I’m all for big gestures, so I can’t criticize this kind of paint job.
But I can say that if you’re going to go all-American on your ‘hood’s ass, please don’t decorate with a couple of these:
Or this:
Or, for the love of all that’s beautiful, an entire set of these:

Happy Fourth!

That bed gives a whole new and disturbing definition of ‘wrapping oneself in the flag.’

I’m sort of loving that house, actually. I mean, that’s commitment.

I get a kick out of that house, too. Then again, I appreciate anybody who is willing to do something different besides the same brick or gray/taupe/white vinyl siding. (In my sister’s suburban neighbourhood, friends of hers actually had concerned people contacting them, because they had the temerity to put buttercream yellow siding on their home, instead of gray, taupe, white or brick.)
The bedding though — oy. Who knows, though? Maybe they’re just really kinky, and love knocking boots under the flag.

Eilish: Word to that! One of the coolest homes in our ‘hood is painted bright electric purple. I adore it!
La Petite Acadienne: I feel your pain — one thing I loved about moving to New England from NY was how colorful the houses were. In NY, it’s all the same old brick or siding in the dullest colors imaginable. Here there are all sorts of beautiful deep blue, pink, yellow, green, and black homes! I think that’s part of why I’m so keen to rip the siding off my house to paint. We’re planning on a deep pumpkinish orange with cream trim and (possibly) tiny eggplant accents.

At least directions to the house are easy!

Wow, a red, white, and blue Nelson Marshmallow Sofa! Who’d have thunk it?

Ooh, forgot. I quite agree about boring house colors. The DC suburbs are a hotbed of the boring housing colors. The only place I remember homes in bright colors was Guatemala and Belize. On the way to Tikal, I saw bright pink, purple, jadeite green homes all over the place.
