Tree Beds, Five Ways
By Christa TerryIf you’re looking for a four-poster bed with a twist, how about a tree bed? That way, you can have four posts or fourteen, depending. And it’s a wacky, but adorable way to catch some Zs in the great outdoors without all the muss and fuss of camping. I’d love the first one or the fourth one, but depending on how rustic you want to go, you might love the others more!

I really like #4 — it’s sweet, with that adorable nest. I’m definitely not a fan of #3 — it looks like you could inadvertently impale yourself on one of the branches if you roll over.
What are your thoughts on a tree bed if one actually lives in the woods? Appropriately thematic, or over-the-top?

I rather adore the last one, as if trees started growing out of the dry boards. But the others…I wonder about dust. I mean, the last place I want dust accumulation is over my head in bed. But they’re all quite complicated and I just can’t imagine dusting them on a weekly basis.
I suppose the people who buy these beds have housekeepers to dust. 🙂

I think they are all cute but that doesn’t make me want them.
I do think the one with the nest is sort of a fertility symbol.

@La Petite Acadienne I’d say over the top. If someone lives in the woods, why waste a bunch of time and energy trying to take the woods indoors. Just open the window! I feel the same way about houses in the woods that are full of bear heads and raw wood and rocks. Don’t they get enough of that outside?
@Kai Jones Oh, tell me about it! I have cats, cats with fur that falls off pretty much constantly even when they’re regularly brushed. That means I stick to things with less detail rather than more. There’s only so much regular dusting I can handle – I don’t need more nooks and crannies.
@momomom Like a conception bed!

I absolutely love these beds. My 2 favorite are the birds nest and the head and foot board with branches. I am from Houston and i wish I saw your studio when I was still living there. I would of bought one of these in a heart beat.
