Naked Light Bulbs All the Rage (Apparently)

By Christa Terry

So I just found out that barely-there lampshades – wire lamp… shades? – are totally a trend and super hot and everyone must have them now now now. Good to know, I guess. But seeing as that naked light bulbs make my eyes really sad, I think I’ll just be letting this one pass my by. What do you think?

Eerily desolate, like delicate lamp shade skeletons come back to haunt the corners of a room.

  2. The Jananator Says:

Hate it! They look too much like they belong in a factory or an abandoned building or something like that. It’s like super too trendy and whoever has these things is going to hate them in a few months.

  3. Dale Says:

It’s fine to look at but not very practical. If the bulbs are dim enough not to be a bother, then they don’t provide enough light. But then I’ve never really cared for accent lamps that don’t illuminate. Still, I’d love to get my hands on a skeletal shade and fill it in with knitted lace.

  4. Audrey Says:

I rather like the first photograph…as a well designed photograph. But I wouldn’t like the bare bulb lighting in my home. Design element in fashion photography…yes. Practical lighting…no.

  5. Anna Says:

I think they’re trying too hard to look cool.

  6. Julie Says:

What I don’t like about a naked bulb is the crazy shadows… I’d feel like I was being interrogated.
