The redneck manse, revealed
By Christa TerryI remember once joshing on trailers and trailer parks in front of some future in-laws. My then soon-to-be sister-in-law was the first to speak up, saying, “You know that mom once lived in a trailer, right?” I lapsed into an embarrassed silence until I remembered two things. One, I have relatives who live in what is commonly known as a double wide, and two, my MIL lived in the trailer to better make use of a huge and beautiful piece of unspoiled land.
Just so you know, I harbor no particular assumptions about trailers or the people who call them home. In fact, I wouldn’t mind moving into my own redneck mansion, provided I could paint it crazy colors and overcharge touristy types who wanted to point and gawk. It is for these reasons that I’m sad to say that this lowbrow manse is actually a theatrical set.
After receiving thousands of inquiries as to the whereabouts and existence of this “mansion,” the mystery has been solved. [The structure] is actually a set at the Openluchttheater in Amsterdam where plays are performed in the summer months. This is from the production of Ivanov.
Nuts!

Fantastic! They combined a trailer park with a treehouse. My seven year old self dreamed of nothing else!
When I was kid, I lived in a nice HOUSE-house and my best friend lived in a trailer with her mom and her grandmother and I was jealous because it was so small and cozy and modular.

While I’ve never been a fan of the trailer as a form of housing (what can I say? I dreamed of living in a gloriously gothic Victorian even as a small child), this absolutely rocks. I want to find a way to recreate it in my Sims game and have a very strange family inhabit it.

That is pretty awesome! I think I would live in it.

Now that is amazing. And I have to say in defense of folks who live in them that some of the most house-proud people I have ever seen live in trailer parks.

This layout would save many a marriage. Give him his trailer, each kid their trailer, and mom could live in her own space. There would be communial areas of course but with everyone in their own modular unit, family harmony could be maintained. And when a unit was no longer needed, get rid of it or repurpose it into a craft room or a man room to keep the family peace…
