Sometimes It’s Okay to Be a Doormat
By Christa TerryParticularly when you’re totally cute.

Natural coir, woven from coconut husks, makes this birds and flowers doormat from Acacia Home a perfect way to say welcome home. As sweet as it is, it stands up to all kinds of weather, so you won’t have to ask guests to take off their shoes before wiping their feet.

I love this, it’s really, really pretty.
I’m embarrassed to ask this:
Am I the only one who feels kind of bad about stepping on critters? Yes, I KNOW it’s a doormat. But I feel bad stepping on birdies! Or bunnies, or bats, or dogs, or cats. I can tread happily and heavily on flora, but I wind up edging around the creatures.
Is it just me?

It’s not just you, La BellaDonna, and it’s not just doormats. Our house came with a wallpaper border of bunnies in the kitchen and first floor hallway, and the thought of tearing them off makes me cringe, even though I know they aren’t alive.
